Had asked about applying for first time home owners/down payment assistance/closing cost assistance with the loan nothing was done. Felt it was difficult to get to get broker on the phone unless via text. When discussing finances and active loans, I had asked if I should pay off a loan to save money and leave some for after closing cost was advised by broker that I would make full payment at closing which I can understand, however I was told I had to bring a check to closing, to find out that I was receiving another check to deposit back into the account of the bank that the loan was with and could have been already paid in full and requested the bank provided necessary documentation to confirm it was paid and other payments that were paid off by time of closing with me sending a check to those accounts for a balance that no longer exists. After closing I was barely left with anything to cover expenses that may occur. When I had questions about it because it didn’t make sense was repeatedly asked “what don’t you understand?”. Was told that the broker payment would be included in my mortgage, found out day of closing that it was not included in the cost and would need to come out of pocket. I felt there was lack of communication amongst the mortgage brokers when asking for certain documentation already request by initial broker and when I questioned why I would want to base purchasing a home based on overtime alone instead of an income that was equal to previous years with overtime I was told it was necessary and I needed overtime in order to be approved for the mortgage. It is very unlikely I would recommend or use contour mortgage if I ever found myself in the position to purchase a home again.
