Tracy was very patient throughout the mortgage process. She walked me through step-by-step and was very helpful whenever I had a problem figuring out the technology end of things! She did explain that our closing figures would change at the end right before the closing, so I was expecting that. I was shocked when I heard the amount I needed to bring to the closing went from $7,000. to $11,000.—more than 50% higher than expected. When I asked why such a large difference I was reminded that we knew the amount could vary. At closing, our attorney explained to us that the huge difference was Wintrust was requiring us to put money into escrow for the landscaping the builder needs to complete in the spring (in addition to the $5,000. the builder put in escrow). I wish that would have been acknowledged when I asked why the amount had increased so significantly. We would have appreciated complete transparency.
